More than 400 volunteers joined a coastal cleanup at East Coast Park, collecting an estimated two tonnes of litter over four hours.
Organisers said common items included food packaging, fishing line, and small plastic fragments washed ashore during recent tides.
Similar drives are planned monthly, with registration slots opening two weeks before each event.
Participants included school groups, corporate volunteer teams, and long-time residents who have joined coastal cleanups for more than a decade. Organisers sorted collected debris for recycling where possible, separating metal cans and hard plastics from general waste.
Marine conservation groups present at the event said monsoon shifts often deposit higher volumes of land-based litter along the eastern coastline. They urged food and beverage outlets near the park to reduce single-use packaging and ensure bins are emptied before weekend peaks.
NParks reminded visitors to bag personal rubbish and avoid disturbing wildlife habitats along the beach. Future cleanup dates will be posted on the agency's volunteer portal and shared through partner environmental organisations.
