Renovation at Bedok Interchange Hawker Centre will start in September and is expected to last about four months.
Popular stallholders will move to temporary units nearby so regular customers can continue supporting familiar vendors.
Upgrades include improved ventilation, new drainage, and wider walkways to reduce congestion during lunch peaks.
The National Environment Agency said stallholders at temporary units will maintain regular operating hours where possible, with signage directing patrons to relocated favourites. Popular chicken rice and noodle stalls are among those confirmed to remain open throughout the renovation period.
Architects have incorporated more natural lighting and energy-efficient exhaust systems into the redesign, aiming to reduce heat buildup that has been a common complaint during afternoon service. Seating capacity is expected to increase by roughly fifteen percent once works are complete.
Local residents welcomed the upgrade but noted that parking near the interchange may remain tight until nearby road works conclude later in the year. The town council said additional bicycle racks will be installed to encourage alternative transport options.
